O.P. Singh PRESIDENT & CEO, IPF Former DGP, Uttar Pradesh
OP Singh, a distinguished former IPS officer, holds the rare honor of having commanded three of India’s premier police and security organizations. As Director General of Police (DGP) Uttar Pradesh, he led the nation’s largest police force. He served as the Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a world-renowned multi-skilled disaster response agency, and as Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), entrusted with safeguarding India’s critical infrastructure and vital installations.
A decorated officer, Singh has been honored with the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services, the Police Medal for Meritorious Services, and the Police Gallantry Medal by the Government of India. His contributions to international cooperation include representing India at the World Humanitarian Summit Regional Consultation for South & Central Asia in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and the Programming Committee of SAARC in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Renowned for his innovative approach to policing, Singh played a pivotal role in the introduction of the Police Commissionerate system in Uttar Pradesh. His leadership during major rescue operations, particularly during the 2015 Nepal Earthquake, remains commendable.
Following his retirement, Singh has continued to contribute through independent external monitor roles with esteemed organizations, including Oil India Ltd, Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Coal India Ltd, and the Department of Post. He serves as a security and risk advisor for NatWest Group Services (formerly Royal Bank of Scotland) and as an advisor to India Child Protection. Singh is also President & CEO of the Indian Police Foundation, a multi disciplinary think tank dedicated to police reform and improvement of policing through research, capacity building and policy advocacy.
A prolific writer and Penguin author, Singh has published three books. Beyond his professional achievements, he finds joy in reading, traveling, listening to music, and mentoring young aspirants for the civil services.
