D. C. Jain joined the Indian Police Service in 1991 and borne on Rajasthan cadre. He has worked in the State of Rajasthan and the Central Bureau of Investigation in various capacities. He superannuated from the post of Special Director, CBI on 31st Oct 2023.

By qualification he is a graduate in Engineering from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology at Jaipur and a postgraduate from the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge, UK.

He has other national and International assignments to his credit which include - 49^th National Security and Strategic Studies course at the National Defence College, New Delhi, the United Nations Peace Keeping Mission in Kosovo, representing India in negotiating and finalizing Extradition Treaty and Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) in Criminal Matters with Mexico, attending International Senior Seminar held on "Effective Legal & Practical Measures to Combat Corruption" in Japan, representing India in the working group of INTERPOL for reviewing legal texts of the Interpol.

Mr. Jain is recipient of the United Nations Peace Medal, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services, the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services and DGP Disk of Rajasthan Police for exemplary work.
