The Indian Police Foundation organised a seminar on “Presence of Women Workforce in Police Organisations at Subordinate Ranks in India” on 16 June 2026 at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The seminar brought together senior police officers, policymakers, academicians, researchers, and members of civil society to discuss the importance of increasing the participation of women in police organisations and strengthening gender-inclusive policing.

The discussions focused on the need to create a police force that is more representative, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of society. Participants highlighted that while the number of women in policing has increased over the years, greater efforts are needed to improve recruitment, workplace infrastructure, training opportunities, career progression, and a supportive work environment.

Exchanging Practical Perspectives

The seminar also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and share practical suggestions on improving the representation of women at the subordinate ranks. An interactive session with the audience further enriched the discussions and encouraged the sharing of diverse perspectives.

A Commitment to Inclusive Policing

The Indian Police Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to all the distinguished speakers and participants for their valuable contributions. The Foundation also thanks the Cello Foundation for its generous CSR support and the India International Centre for collaborating in organising this important event.

The seminar reaffirmed the Indian Police Foundation's commitment to promoting research, dialogue, and policy discussions that contribute to a more professional, inclusive, and effective policing system in India.
