“Role of Prison Administration under the New Criminal Procedures under BNSS”
Date & Time: 20th June 2025 | 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
With the enactment of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the role of prison administration underwent significant transformation. The new framework introduced enhanced responsibilities in areas such as under-trial production, technology-enabled prisoner management, strengthened security protocols, and deeper coordination with law enforcement and judicial bodies. The programme aimed to foster professional dialogue on these evolving expectations and prepare administrators for their effective implementation.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. K.P. Singh, Former DGP of Haryana and Director of the IPF Centre for Prison Reforms. Drawing from his vast experience in prison and police administration, Dr. Singh provided valuable insights into the operational and strategic implications of the new criminal procedures under BNSS. His address sparked a lively discussion and exchange of views among participants.
The event was attended by serving and retired prison officers, police personnel, members of the judiciary, correctional experts, and IPF associates, and served as a platform for constructive dialogue on the future of prison administration under the new legal framework.
