INDIAN POLICE FOUNDATION FORUM MEET

The Indian Police Foundation, in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Foundation  of Germany (Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V.) hosted a round table discussion on "The role of criminalistics, forensics and cyber forensics in tracking and investigation of online crime, terrorism and radicalisation”.  The event was held from 3 pm to 6 pm on 11th July 2017, at the Claridges Hotel New Delhi.

Dr. Christian Friedrich Matzdorf, a former Police Director and expert in Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences, presently with the Department of Police and Security Management at the Berlin School of Economics and Law spoke and interacted with the participants. Other speakers included Mr. Arun Mohan Sukumar, the Head of the Cyber Security and Internet Governance Initiative, Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and Mr. Raghu Raman, former CEO of NATGRID and Group President RIL.  A number of senior police officers who have done excellent work on this subject attended the event.  Mr. Madan M. Oberoi IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Delhi, lead and moderated the discussions.

This roundtable discussed the application of criminalistics, forensics and other scientific tools available for responding to the threat of online criminal activity including radicalisation, while exploring various options of responses available to the Law Enforcement Authorities. Needless to say, this roundtable was immensely useful to police officers interested in the application of modern scientific tools in dealing with internet crime in general, and online radicalisation in particular.

Besides members of the Indian Police Foundation and Indian Police Institute, serving and retired police officers stationed in the NCR and those visiting Delhi attended the event.  State Police DGs /CPs were requested to depute officers who may be interested / working on this subject.
